Fake Flower Arrangements

Fake flowers and fake flower arrangements go back in history as far as the ancient Chinese, who fashioned them from silk and other cloth. The Egyptians used stained horns and the Italians created them using dyed silkworm cocoons. By the 14th century the French seem to have perfected the creation of fake flowers. But the French Revolution caused those artisans to flee to England. By the early 1800's immigrants from England brought the trade to America.

The Victorian era fake flowers were fashioned from velvet, calico, muslin, cambric, crepe and gauze. These flowers were used to adorn clothing, whether it be gowns, hats or other accessories. Wood, porcelain and metal was also used. Wax flowers and those fashioned from human hair became popular. Celluloid flowers were introduced in the 1940's but because of their flammable properties were banned from import from Japan. Plastic soon became the material of choice, then polyester because of its low cost and durability. The higher end, more realistic fake flowers were make from silk, rayon and cotton. Some creators of fake flowers were known to dissect real flowers petal by petal, so to replicate one as accurately and perfectly as possible.

The more creative crafter would fashion fake flowers from shells, feathers, pods, seeds, paper or even ribbon. No matter what is used to create fake flowers they are were and are used to decorate clothing, accessories for the home. Finish Your Blue Jeans Purse With a Personal Touch!

You may have an old pair of jeans that have been hanging in your closet for years and you value them so much. Why not get some more use out of them by turning them into a Blue Jeans Purse?
Native American accents are common designs for blue jeans purse. But don't limit yourself. Be creative and unique!

Look around a craft store for hundreds of embellishments you can use to adorn your purse. A pack of cheap fabric paints can also be used. They come in tubes and you no longer need a brush to paint and draw the design with the paints. You just let it dry and a new look will have a glittering effect.

Procedures in Making the Purse:
Try to paint a string of upturned "V's" in white or red on the strap so as to embody tee-pees. Use colored russet paint to make three sticks coming out on top of each teepee. Get a coyotes, wolves, or rubber stamp depicting deer. Wet the rubber stamp in the fabric paint and stomp the animals walking across the bottom front of the purse. Use a big teepee together with numerous smaller ones bordering it as the picture of your purse's background or front. You may also use rub-on appliqués' to make tee-pees, moccasins, feathers, and headdresses at random places all over the purse.

If you still want to add more ornaments to your blue jeans purse, American bead patterns in shades of red, turquoise, white, and black will look extraordinary when sewn onto a denim purse. However, if you really want your blue jeans purse to look expensive in this pattern, you must sew it properly. At times you can find the tiniest of beads already strung and with a backing for sewing, and these are sold on a roll at some department or craft stores.

Use these beads to insert the purse strap or to decorate a pocket on the purse. String the beads and attach to purse. You can also make the most out of your unused jewelry to add inflection and unique touch. Put a bracelet or necklace on a string with turquoise accessory that can be tacked to a pocket on a purse, setting a dangling result outside your purse. You don't have to spend a lot of money in redecorating your purse.

If you still want to add décor and depth on your blue jeans purse, put a Conchos with bands of leather hanging from behind your purse. Apply beads and feathers or strip of rawhide to create zipper pulls. Strand the beads through the zipper heave hole. Thread the ends of the rawhide half way through wooden bead. Then paste it so it will be attached to the purse. At the opposite hole of the bead, squeeze the glue inside. Then insert feathers.

Many craft stores have an aisle where you can acquire pieces of feathers, leather, and Indian decorations. Engrave animal shapes from the leather pieces to attach to the purse using fabric glue. Draw round the animals with fabric paints.

Explore your local craft store for more ideas. There are dozens of rubber stamps that can be used with hundreds of different paints and inks, and thousands of bead choices and Indian decorations. Why not finish your blue jeans purse with a touch of your artistic quality and wealthy resources!

Remember how much you loved coloring when you were a child? You'd snuggle down into another world with your coloring books and crayons, and time would pass almost unnoticed. Children today love to color just as much, plus we now know that coloring is an excellent pre-reading activity that helps children develop the eye-and-hand coordination they will need to write. Coloring books are still available in the stores if you like, but you will also find a ton of coloring pages to print in the Internet which will provide your child with a much wider range of subjects to choose from than you'll find in books.

When people first started accessing the Internet, there were only a few sites that offered free, printable coloring pages. Most of their offerings were rough drawings or produced very small pictures. Now, however, there are a multitude of sites that will let you print high-quality coloring sheets on just about any subject you might choose.

DLTK is one of the premier children's crafting sites and has been adding to it's list of materials for many years now. On this one site you can find almost any type of coloring pages to print that you might want. For example, you can get numerous sheets for the different holidays throughout the year. These pages have been designed with children of all ages in mind, and you can find both secular and religious subjects. You can find many cartoon character coloring pages on the DLTK site including SpongeBob Squarepants, Spiderman, Scooby Doo, and the Powerpuff Girls. You can also find the coloring sheets to tell the entire story of "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" which is a favorite book for children.

Doing a search on Google for printable coloring pages will bring up numerous different websites that offer you coloring pages to print. Google even offers a selection of pages with everything from dragons to princesses and Dora the Explorer to animals and sports cars. Each picture is accompanied with a link to the website it was taken from, so you get a huge range of websites you can look on to find different kinds of coloring pages. This is a wonderful resource that provides you with a diverse collection of free, printable coloring sheets.

Individual character websites also often have great coloring pages to print. For example, by searching Google for the Strawberry Shortcake website, you can print a large number of high quality coloring sheets that will delight any little girl. You can try looking up other favorite characters for your child, such as Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder, and Curious George, and you'll find some free coloring sheets you can print out at each site. It's like having a hundred different coloring books at your disposal all the time.

There's never been a better time to be a kid than right now, and free, printable coloring sheets are one of the great perks for children that have come out of our technological age.
